The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment is the most widely used measure of personality. Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers developed it in the early 1940s based on the theory of the pioneering Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. The model describes patterns of preferences in four dichotomies of personality type:
- Information-gathering processes
- Decision-making processes
- Orientation of energy and focus of attention
- Lifestyle and orientation to outer world
